Koda Sushi

Celebrities, hipsters, and Rocky Horror fans don't have to travel far for sushi. A restaurant with inside out seating and giver of inner goodness is found across from the 99 cent store near Silver Lake's Sunset junction. The bargain shopping continues with the $4 happy hour from 12 PM to 7 PM, every day. Enjoy the delicately prepared benefits of sweet short-grained rice, rolled up in fresh seaweed to the tongue's desire. An array of fresh salads are available to start things off right, like the ocean seaweed salad served on a bed of baby green lettuce. For vegans and vegetarians, there are plenty of options such as an avocado roll and veggie tempura roll. With nearly 20 rolls available at a low price, it doesn't take much to kiss the hunger sianara.

Vinoteca

When you combine Italian cuisine with Brazilian style you get Vinotega. Nestled between Farfalla and Tropicalia Grill on Hillhurst Ave. in Los Feliz, Vintoeca is a samplers haven of tapas, unique wines and dozens of cheeses. The tiramisu is homemade to perfection. The atmosphere doesn't remind you of a café in Venice, but more like a modern winery in Napa Valley.
The walls are lined with a plethora of Californian and international wines. And while the friendly staff pours customers another glass, they're most likely preparing their most beloved dish -- risotto in grozza served in a Parmesan cheese wheel. The cart is rolled out carrying the 2 foot wheel of cheese, the lid is taken off and presto, the dish is served.
If you're looking for an exceptional wine bar experience, then Vinotega is the place to go.

Electric Lotus Indian Restaurant

This is where South Asian taste meets an eclectic (or electric) atmosphere. You won't find many Indian restaurants featuring a fully-equipped bar complete with everything from Jack Daniels to Chimay. For 12 years, Electric Lotus, on the corner of Vermont Blvd. and Franklin Ave., has provided the neighborhood of Los Feliz and chance to experience charming dishes such as the Lamb Bhuna or Chicken Coconut Curry, which is a known favorite even for a few neighborhood celebrities. For vegetarians the Channa Masala is trustworthy as well as the Shahi Paneer, decorated with raisins and nuts.
Their pride and joy is the Tandoori Chicken prepared in a big clay oven. The brave dish is brought out on a sizzling hot plate and the aromatic scent of herbs and spices immediately fills the room. And if noses and taste buds are too weak to resist, there are also a few closed booths for an intimate experience.
Manager Sunny Sanni says the atmosphere is supposed to give customers the experience of eating good Indian food, but not in India. Booths align the entrance of the restaurant for those who enjoy the California sunshine, and the bar provides solo customers with plenty of room to relax and take it all in.
Electric Lotus won't give you the cliché atmosphere of your typical restaurant. The trendy decor is definitely backed up by quality and flavor. So next time, while strolling down Vermont Blvd. in Los Feliz village, give a Electric Lotus a try, and those taste buds will say, namaste!
